Robert "Bob" Bigelow, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Eagar, surrounded by his loving family, Monday, July 31, 2023. He was born July 7, 1935 in Eagar, Arizona to Owen Mathias Bigelow and Lucie Eagar Bigelow. He lived his entire life in Eagar and loved his beautiful mountain home.
Bob graduated from Round Valley High School in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Army from 1956-1958. His military service took him to Germany, where he developed lifelong friendships and made many happy memories.
He met the love of his life, Glenna Austin, at the El Rio Theater in Springerville where she was working. They were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 16, 1960. He worked for the Round Valley School District as a bus driver and in the maintenance department, retiring in 1997. After retirement, he spent his time doing what he loved: working at his farm in Springerville with his faithful dog and best friend Jim. He worked his cattle, grew beautiful fields of alfalfa and enjoyed pumping water from his windmill.
Bob was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Savior and lived the teachings of the gospel in his everyday life. He will always be remembered for his acts of service to his family and to others.
He is survived by his children, Mary Michelle (Randy) Stanley, Eagar; Melissa (Stuart) Sullivan, Peoria; Robert Gary Bigelow, Eagar; Sandra Lynn (Mark) Lang, Springerville; brother, Rulon Bigelow, Eagar; sisters, Ann Udall, Eagar; Diana Davis, Eagar; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Austin, parents, Owen and Lucie Bigelow, brothers, Harold and Dennis Bigelow and sister, Virginia Croxton.
He was the best Dad ever and we will miss him so much. Many thanks to the Safire restaurant for the kind hospitality our family has always been shown. Many thanks to Accord Hospice for their loving kindness and stellar service to our Dad and family.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amity building, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the Eagar Cemetery.
