Iris Margaret Finch

October 14, 1930 — April 24, 2022

Iris Margaret Finch, 91, passed into the arms of her Savior and her beloved husband, Sunday, April 24, 2022 in Eagar. She was the eighth of twelve children born October 14, 1930 in Jerome, Arizona to Parley Leroy Bigelow and Esther Grace Ray.

Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Vurrell Gilbert Finch, 2 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, her beloved parents and her siblings, Edwin, Gilbert, Violet, Melvin Lynn, Simeon, Vernon, Lily, Norman Wade and Larry.

She is survived by her children, Vurrell, Jr., “Chip” (Kristie) Finch, Denny Finch, Kathy Finch, Bill (Sandi) Finch, Clifford (Tammy) Finch, Wade (Nanette) Finch, Lily Finch, Shaun (Carene) Finch, Cynthia (Blaine) Morris, 50 grandchildren, 207 great grandchildren, 40 great, great grandchildren and her siblings, Daisy Norton (soon to be 97) and Delmar Bigelow, 85 years old.

Iris had a great love and reverence for God and His handiwork. Babies are angels, children and flowers a delight and blue skies never stopped being the most beautiful sight. Music was a way of life and she passed this love to her children.

Her favorite time of the day was the sacred stillness of the early morning. Quiet times reading, studying scripture and praying were cherished. She had a fierce testimony and love of Jesus Christ; giving her strength and the only way she could leave her family to serve a mission in England for 18 months alongside her husband. Teaching these sacred principles while fostering devotion and loyalty to the family were her highest priorities.

Iris had a deep sense of industriousness and self-sufficiency and taught this to her posterity through her selfless and tireless example. She was an expert gardener, canner, seamstress, and cook. Fresh baked bread filled the house constantly and was not only a necessity, but a way of life. Handmade quilts were loved wedding gifts, while beautiful hand pieced baby quilts were a must for grandbabies and even some great grandbabies were lucky enough to get one. This talent spilled over into beautiful handwork and most famous are her cross stitch pictures that look like beautiful paintings.

This master homemaker raised 9 children and managed to keep an organized and immaculately clean home while still fostering a relaxed creativity and learning for her children.

Iris loved and lived for her husband and children; continuously saying she had been blessed with the best children in the world.

Faith, hope and charity, through service to family and God ‘IS’ the legacy she forever leaves in our hearts.
