Edward “Speedy” Behrendt, age 70, of Reserve, New Mexico passed away, Monday, October 31, 2022. Speedy was born on October 1, 1952 in Tucson, Arizona to Edward Louis and Genevieve “Jenny” Veronica Reichl Behrendt, both deceased.
Speedy graduated from Pueblo High School & Pima College in Tucson, Arizona. He went on to work for Joy (CBC), then Borderland Construction until successfully venturing out on his own as a local and well-respected business owner of Speed Machine & Motorsport.
Speedy retired in 2018 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, RZR rides on the back roads of New Mexico and restoring his classic car projects with his many friends and family. He loved his numerous visitors and welcomed anyone into his home and his shop.
Speedy is survived by his son, Kevin (Tiffany) Behrendt, sisters, Beverley Bledsoe, Shirley Rinehart and his nieces and nephew, Dean Bledsoe, Ginavieve Ardito, Lori Anderson and Jenny Rinehart along with their respective families and of course his beloved dog, Ziva.
He will be remembered for his passion of engine building, racing, hunting and caring for his friends and family.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Speed Machine, 2861 W Alvaro Rd, Tucson, Arizona 85746.
