William “Bill” Dudley Prentice, 89, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in St. Johns. He was born June 17, 1929 in Santa Barbara, California, the son of Robert K. Prentice and Mildred Cunningham Prentice.
Bill was a longtime, devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his wife, Anna, served a mission in Concho; always serving others and a man of many talents. Bill served his country in the United States Army from 1951-1956. He was a pilot, mosquito crop-duster, owner and operator of Prentice Trucking, a bronc rider, owner of Bill’s Boot & Saddle Repair and road yard supervisor for the city of St. Johns. Bill was always serving others, from bringing firewood to widows and repairing missionary shoes for free.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Linda Prentice, St. Johns; grandchildren, Brandon (Leilani) Silverhorn, Surprise; Patricia Silverhorn, Mesa; Brian (Amanda) Silverhorn, Snowflake; Jason Silverhorn, Peoria; Marcus (Nicole) Prentice, Clearfield, Utah; Michael (Clacie) Prentice, Spokane Valley, Washington; Suzanne (Tony) Kirkham, North Logan, Utah; Mandy (Kiff) Hale, Springerville; Kristine Brown, North Logan, Utah; Lori (Bruce) Benedict, Mountain View, Wyoming; Garrick (Lyndsey) Prentice, Mountain View, Wyoming; sisters, Sandy and Sue, 10 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 4 great, great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Anna Prentice, sons, James Prentice, Matthew Prentice, great grandson, Austin Silverhorn, brother, Jack Prentice and sister, Madalyn Jiminez.
A viewing will be held Friday, November 30, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, St. Johns. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Downtown Chapel, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the funeral services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
