Stephen Kent Rogers

Stephen Kent Rogers “Stretch” passed away at home surrounded by his family, Monday, June 13, 2022 after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. Steve was born December 3, 1953 to Edna and Spencer Rogers in Snowflake Arizona.

Steve never met a stranger and was always willing to help a friend in need. He was dedicated to the Lord and served regularly in the Snowflake Arizona temple and instilled the importance of temple worship in his family by regularly organizing excursions for his children and grandchildren. He also served as a high councilman, a counselor in the bishopric, twice as a stake missionary and for over a decade as a stake technology specialist keeping all the computers running.

There was never a project that he wasn’t up to trying out, whether it was restoring a house, building a flatbed for his truck, starting a doughnut business, running a vacuum repair shop, building caskets or putting an ultra-light airplane back together; he was always up for a new adventure. He loved cars, motorcycles, the outdoors, camping, gardening, hunting and working on projects with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Berta Ann (Nielsen) Rogers, children, Latisha (Jim) Leslie, Autum (Duane) Martin, Zenica (Michael) Hall, Micah (Ashley) Rogers, Lanise (Joseph) Sanders, Blake (Melinda) Rogers, Breanne (Ramon) Sanchez, Dylan (Destiny) Rogers and 27 grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way and brothers, Spencer Herb Rogers, Utah; and Stanley Rogers, Snowflake.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Scott Rogers.

A viewing will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, St. Johns. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns downtown chapel, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
