Michael Dean Scheier

It is with heavy hearts that we announce, Michael Dean Scheier graduated this life on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born December 13, 1944 in Roswell, New Mexico, was raised in Grand Canyon and lived the last 42 years in Eagar, Arizona.

Michael was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Josephine Lampe Scheier, brothers, Dale Lewis Scheier, Carl Paul Scheier, Charles Joseph Scheier and his beloved grandson, Mason Scheier.

Michael worked tirelessly throughout his life; always providing for his family and enjoyed serving his church and community. His memory will live on through the stories, laughs and lessons he shared. He had a loving, jovial nature; teasing those around him. He loved wood-working, family history, temple service, skiing, Coke and Ford trucks. He valued education and graduated from Grand Canyon High School and Northern Arizona University.

Michael’s legacy lives on in his surviving family members including his beloved eternal companion of 52 years, Mar June Payne Scheier, children, Tonia Weldy, Andrea Pena, Preston Scheier, Gerald Scheier, Kendall Scheier, Joycelyn Newman, 16 grandchildren, Crystal Weldy, Michael Weldy, Chanelle Pena, Janelle Pena, Daniel Pena, Ryan Pena, Nathan Scheier, Taylor Scheier, Natalie Scheier, Amanda Scheier, Jessica Scheier, Kael Scheier, Mason Scheier, Holly Scheier, James Newman, Bethany Newman, 3 great-grandchildren and siblings, Don Scheier, David Scheier, and Mary Scheier. Michael had many family and friends who had a positive influence on his life. He will be missed, but his memory will be cherished forever.

A viewing will be held Friday, January 31, 2025 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, 535 N Main St., Eagar. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amity building, 576 W School Bus Rd., Eagar, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the Eagar Cemetery.
