Quemado

Maureen Ann Rigley, 88, passed away, Monday, June 10, 2024 at her home near Quemado, New Mexico surrounded by the things she loved most: family, friends, faith and music. She was born June 15, 1935 in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Joseph Francis Kelly and Irene Rose Deschenes. 

Maureen graduated from Mount Mercy School of Nursing/Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, worked as head registered nurse of labor and delivery at Mercy Hospital and ministered to rural migrant worker families as camp nurse at Marian House Family Apostolate in Waterport, New York. In 1970 Maureen and her husband, Joseph Rigley moved to Brawley, California where she worked as a registered nurse in labor and delivery and neonatal ICU at Pioneers Memorial Hospital, raised three sons in Westmorland, California and retired in Quemado, New Mexico.

Maureen was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.

She is survived by her brother, Patrick Kelly, sister, Kathleen Steen, sons, Joseph Jr. (Anne), Englewood, Colorado; Stephen P. (Rosy), Magnolia, Texas; David M. (Thalia), Lake Tahoe, California, grandson, Sinon Karol Rigley and granddaughter, Rosanna Esther Calderon. 

Rosary will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Quemado, New Mexico. Interment will follow the services at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Maureen's name to St. Vincent de Paul Society or to Sacred Heart Church in Quemado, New Mexico.
