Mary Virginia Rodgers Allred

Mary Virginia Rodgers Allred, age 86 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, Monday, June 12, 2017. Mary was born May 28, 1931 in Harlingen Texas, the daughter of Charles Leo Rodgers and Margaret “Peg” Cecilia O’Neill. Mary spent most of her childhood living in Texas where she was lovingly known as Mary Jean. She loved her time there growing up surrounded by cousins whom she loved and traveling by train to St. Louis, Missouri to visit her extended family there. After her father passed away she moved to Tucson then to Safford where she met and married her sweetheart, Farrell Damar Allred. After several moves, Farrell and Mary settled with their family in Eagar in 1967 where together they owned and operated Allred’s Western Wear. Their family was sealed for eternity on February 27, 1969 in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Mary was intelligent, witty, fun, and a hard worker. She enjoyed reading, Hallmark movies, golfing and many of the activities that her grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved in. She was proud of the accomplishments of her family members, always quick to give a sincere compliment and praise to those who worked hard to achieve their goals and encouraged everyone to be their best. Mary was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She made everyone feel like they were her “favorite”. She loved people and always had many friends. Everyone knew her as “Grandma Mary”. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Rodgers and Margaret Cecilia “Peg” O’Neill Rodgers, her husband Farrell, her sons, Charles Alan, Donald Damar, Douglas Michael, granddaughter, Damara Kristine Allred, grandson, Zachary Damar Allred and great-grandson, Hyrum Jacob Wiltbank. She is survived by her daughter, Velda Wiltbank, son, Wade Allred and her 17 grandchildren; Jenna Allred Farnes, Tad Allred, Maggie Allred Lewis, Tammy Wiltbank Gomez, M. Jay Wiltbank, Jennifer Wiltbank Nicoll, Emily Wiltbank Walter, Michael Wiltbank, Cord Wiltbank, Ryan Wiltbank, Tristan Gillespie, Eric Allred, Stuart Allred, Natalie Allred Thatcher, Josh Allred, Justin Allred, Maddie Allred, and 41 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Vining Funeral Home, 1940 S 20th Ave. in Safford, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. Following the funeral services she will be placed alongside Farrell at the Thatcher City Cemetery.
