Margie C. Hope Waters passed away peacefully, Monday, May 24, 2021 at home in St. Johns, after a 9 month battle with lymphoma.
Margie was born and raised in Idaho and was an Idaho girl at heart even though she lived in Arizona for 40 years. She grew up on a farm in Darlington, Idaho where she enjoyed taking care of the bum lambs, hauling hay, picking potatoes and everything there was to do inside the house too. She was a homebody and got homesick easily, so therefore loved being with both parents and loved growing up with an older sister, 2 younger sisters and 2 younger brothers. She had a love of music and played the piano and clarinet and made sure it was a priority for her children to learn as well.
Margie attended Ricks College and then Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. There she met her sweetheart Curtis and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple on May 2, 1975.
After living in Utah and Washington for a short time, Margie and Curtis moved to St. Johns where they raised 3 children. She substituted in the St. Johns Unified School District for 39 years and enjoyed selling Avon on the side. She was a very active participant in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities throughout the many organizations. She was selfless and spent the majority of her time serving others. Margie was a fast walker and a hard worker. After she walked 4 miles a day you could often find her picking weeds, watering flowers, planting seeds and harvesting a garden and many other tasks. She worked alongside Curtis outside and in and if they weren’t working they were out on an adventure driving in the middle of nowhere or having a picnic in the sand wash and shooting guns.
Margie’s true calling in life and what she enjoyed more than anything was being a Grandma. She spent countless hours traveling to see her grandchildren, spending time with them, playing games with them and teaching them the gospel. She was loved by her in-laws and many nieces and nephews and all she came in contact with. She had a deep love for our Savior Jesus Christ and emulated Him in every way.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Waters, son, Dustin (Cindy) Waters, daughters, Melissa (Brett) Overson, Amberlee Waters, grandchildren, Kimberlee, Carter and Dane Waters, Jaylee, Kade and Cam Overson, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and many nieces and nephews.
