Lucy Hill, 90, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021 in Show Low. She was born March 17, 1931 in McNary, the daughter of Abran Hill and Lorenza Najar.
From a young age, Lucy always had a motherly instinct. She was the second oldest out of seven children and had a love for each of her siblings that she held dear to her heart. She spoke of them and her parents with an indescribable love. She held their memories close and through all of her days with dementia. She never lost touch with who they were and how she missed them all dearly.
Lucy was a blessing to have in many people’s lives. She knew exactly what to say when your heart needed to listen. Lucy always gave the best advice and was never one to judge. She was the calm to many storms. She had a laugh that could light up even the darkest room and her kindness reached many. She cared for everyone and helped raise many children in her time.
She was as stubborn as a mule, but also had the most gentle touch and most beautiful personality and soul. She lived her life with intention. She believed in God and was a woman of faith. She was a devout Catholic and always lived a life of faith over fear.
Over the years she had given many hours to volunteering for her Church and the local American Legion. She was a part of the Red Hat Society and enriched many lives through her love for helping others and her willingness to help children. Lucy waitressed most of her life. With the exception of housekeeping for a while and working as a cook at the Safire; before retiring from the Round Valley Senior Center. Between working full time jobs, she managed to babysit many children and also raised two little girls on her own as a single parent.
She was an amazing Grandma and the most wonderful aunt, sister, daughter, God Mother and friend to many. She enjoyed her time with her family and she loved sharing her knowledge. Lucy was one of the most patient persons you could ever meet. She had a love for helping children and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and nieces and nephews. She loved the mountains and had a love for the sky and all its beauty. She loved Springerville and was always proud of her home. She enjoyed talking with loved ones and friends over a nice cup of coffee about everyday life and her memories of her family. Lucy’s teachings, laughter and love will continue on with the many of us that she has touched. She is loved endlessly and will be missed dearly.
Lucy is survived by her daughters, Gina (John) Hitchcock and Andria Baca, 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ida, Lorenzo, Fred, Grey, Mervyn, Anita and nephews, Robert Hill, Greg Hill and Lee Baca.
