Loraine Adair Reynolds Laney

Loraine Adair Reynolds Laney, 87, passed away, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 in Eagar. She was born October 4, 1931 in Ramah, Tennessee, the daughter of Robert Lonnie Adair and Bertha Melton Adair.

Loraine attended elementary school and high school in Loretto, Tennessee. She was a straight A student and Valedictorian of her graduating class. She had TB twice growing up, once in her stomach and again in her lungs. She was home schooled for approximately 2 years during high school during her illnesses. She graduated, with honors, from the St. Thomas School of Nursing and later moved to St. Johns upon recommendation for a drier climate. She was later transferred to Springerville Hospital where she met and married H. Lavern Reynolds.

Loraine made her home in Luna, New Mexico where she was involved in community work and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After the loss of her husband she moved to Phoenix and continued her nursing and met and married Vernon F. Laney in 1997. They lived in T or C, New Mexico and eventually settled in Eagar.

Loraine is survived by her husband, Vernon F. Laney, Eagar; brothers, Robert Lonnie (Diana) Adair, II, Minor Hill, Tennessee; Lawrence Landon (Ruth) Adair, Summertown, Tennessee; Dale Price, Hohenwald, Tennessee; sisters, Linna (Tommy) Minor, Florence, Alabama; Glinna Reynolds, Providence, Utah; Mattie Stradling, Taylor; Hallye (Neal) Pearce, St. Johns; and Virginia Brown, Decatur, Alabama.

She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, H. Lavern Reynolds, brothers, Ira Adair, Immons Adair, Gerdis Adair, Alton Adair, Elmer Adair and sisters, Magdalene Adair Smith, Sally Adair O’Rear, Eva Adair Smith and Jewell Adair James.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Luna, New Mexico building, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Luna, New Mexico Cemetery.
