Leonard “Ruffy” Nyles Rogers was born in Springerville, Arizona on January 29, 1949 to Leonard Nelo Rogers and Lela Jean Haws Rogers. He was the first born son of their little family that resided in Nutrioso, Arizona. He passed away, Friday, December 20, 2024 in Alpine, Arizona.

Ruffy joined the Navy and served his country in Vietnam in 1969. He spent 4 years on active duty and 2 years in the reserves. After the service he settled back in Nutrioso where he worked building homes with his dad and in later years his step son Michael.

Ruffy is survived by his step-daughter, Michelle Pence, step-son, Michael (Tesha) Fox, grandchildren, Kayla Pence, Justin Pence, Kyle Pence, Bridger Fox, Dalton Fox, Kyra Fox, Ashton Fox, Tristen Fox, great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Stanley and Stetson, brother, Brad Rogers and sister, Sherry Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lela Rogers, grandson, Kristopher Pence and great-granddaughter, Lyanna.

He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, music and his favorite holiday was Christmas. He will be missed by all who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 3, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar.
