Kenneth Rex Saline of Prescott Valley, Arizona passed away peacefully at the age of 92 years old, Thursday, March 17, 2022 surrounded by his family. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Arlene Noble Saline, his sister, Thora Saline Trotter, his children, LaRee Price and Sara Romero, grandchildren, Brandon Bennett, Ashley Hayes, Aaron Gallegos and great-grandchildren, Addyson, Dallas, Hadley Hayes and Layla Gallegos. He was predeceased by his brothers, Levon, Eldrid, Vant and Elvie Saline.
Kenneth was born on November 6, 1929 to parents, Eliga and Myrtle Saline in Pima, Arizona. As a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he completed his 2 and a half year church mission in Finland in 1953, where he was an interpreter for the winter and summer Olympics in 1952.
He spent 2 years in the Army and in 1954 while on a furlough, he married Arlene in the Mesa, Arizona Temple. Even though they both had attended Arizona State University, he actually graduated from Utah State University. They lived in Utah for several years before moving to California for about 5 years and then settled in at Thatcher, Arizona until his children graduated from high school. He and Arlene then moved to Alpine where he taught school. As an English and Agriculture teacher, he taught at schools in Utah, California and Arizona where he finished his teaching career in St. Johns. Kenneth and his family are constantly approached by former students who share their stories about how he positively influenced their lives when he was their teacher. He loved teaching.
Kenneth was passionate about animals and had many different ones throughout his life, but he took extreme joy in raising paint quarter horses and pigeons. He was also a master gardener and you could always find him outdoors tending his beautiful plants. He enjoyed attending sporting events with Arlene, especially high school local or state playoff games.
Together, Kenneth and Arlene loved to travel across the country and took their children and grandchildren along with them as much as possible; Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Colorado River, Branson, Missouri, Silverton, Colorado and many places in Mexico, to name just a few. They even traveled to Alaska and Finland. In retirement, Kenneth was enthusiastic about genealogy and traced his family all the way back to the 1600s.
Kenneth will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
