Joan Ostler Johnson, 89, a resident of Springerville, passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 in St. Johns. She was born August 30, 1927 in Martinsville, Indiana, the daughter of Alice Gertrude Elmore and Leroy Pearl Ostler. Joan was a homemaker. She was devoted to her family. The love of her life, whom she married, died right before their 20th wedding anniversary. In the 49 years since, there has never been anyone else. Joan is survived by her sons, Jeff (Debbie) Johnson, Mesa; Rick Johnson, Farmington, New Mexico; daughters, Becki (Steve) Christensen, Springerville; Nancy (Dennis) Johnson, Tucson; Alice “Aley” (Brad) Ullrich, Aztec, New Mexico; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Z. Johnson; brothers, Frank Ostler, Paul Ostler; sister, Ruth Neidigh; and all of her in-laws. She was the last of her generation. A Viewing will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington, New Mexico.
