Our family and friends lost a pillar on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 when Jerry Chavez Anaya passed away peacefully at his daughter’s family home in Holbrook.
Jerry was born and raised in St. Johns, where he also raised his girls alongside his loving wife, Patsy Anaya.
Jerry held various positions while working at the Salt River Project Power Plant where he proudly retired. He spent the remainder of his life building memories with his family and friends; camping, fishing, hunting, working on his ranch, attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events and horseback riding with the “Rough Riders” amongst many other of his interests.
Jerry was a kind and generous person who without hesitation always helped others in need. He was definitely a “jokester” and was always giving everyone nicknames.
He is survived by his daughters, Geraldine Lewis, Angie Maya, Cora Lee Anaya, Sarah Owens, Donna Baldonado, Pamela Aguilar and Brittney Castillo and their spouses, 28 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Anaya, daughters, Mary and Aurelia Anaya and grandchildren, Brandee and David Lewis.
His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with. His cowboy ways and advice was instilled in us all and we will honor him and miss his everlasting smile and blue eyes.
All are welcome to attend his services.
A viewing will be held Friday, January 15, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, St. Johns. Rosary will be held Saturday, January 16, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery, with a reception following at Barth Hall.
The Anaya family would like to thank those for their prayers, love and compassion.
