James "Jim" E Muth

January 2, 1943 — May 8, 2018

James E. “Jim” Muth, 75, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at his home in Springerville. He was born January 2, 1943 in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Walter Henry Muth and Esther Will Muth.

Jim was a dedicated husband and father. He also believed in service to the community; serving his country in the United States Army from 1964-1965 and the Arizona National Guard from 1965-1976. Jim worked for the USDA/Forest Service on the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest from 1966 until his retirement in 2001 as a forest land surveyor. In 1980 Jim obtained his registration as a private land surveyor from the state of Arizona and started a part-time business. In 2001 that part-time endeavor became a full-time job.

His passion was for his family and his profession. He served both energetically and whole-heartedly. He never turned down a request for help and never expected or wanted public recognition. The achievement he was most proud of was the scholarship money he helped raise through the Run with the Wolf Bike Rallies he helped organize.

Jim is survived by his son, Daniel (Lisa) Muth and granddaughters, Emily and Allyson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Darlene Muth.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Jim’s name.
