James "Jimmy" Monico Griego, Sr.

James “Jimmy” Monico Griego, Sr. 66, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Phoenix. He was born July 23, 1954 in McNary, the son of Monico Griego and Cruzita Baca Leyba.

Jimmy loved helping people. He loved the outdoors, animals and spending time with friends and family. Jimmy was a roofer for over 30 years for Paige Steel, retiring in 2016. He loved connecting with people and visiting friends all over the United States. Jimmy loved life.

He is survived by his significant other, Mary Helen Pineda, Avondale; sons, James “Sonny” M. Griego, Jr., Buckeye; Celedonio E. Griego, Jr., Safford; daughters, Teresa A. Molina, Phoenix; Sarah N. Griego, Lake Havasu City; Christy C. Griego, Phoenix; brothers, Celedonio Griego, Gilbert Griego, sisters, Rebecca Sandoval, Lucille Griego, Marylou Vallejos, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Patricio "Pat" Griego, Oliver Griego, Richard Griego, David Griego and grandson, Victor “Junior” Adan Molina Griego.

Rosary will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
