Our beautiful, kind, courageous, faithful, articulate, wise and beloved Ina passed away peacefully in her sleep, Sunday, January 19, 2025.
Ina Kristine Overson was born on October 15, 1973 to Clayton Brent Overson and Flora Watson “Cookie” Overson. She spent her first few years in Mesa, Arizona but grew up in St. Johns, Arizona.
Ina grew up loving people, books, dance, fashion and design and sleeping. Ina served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Thailand from 1995-1996. She loved the Thai people and they loved her. She made fast friends of servers, cooks and owners at Thai restaurants in the years that followed. They loved that she spoke their native tongue, that she took a genuine interest in them and that she loved their authentic cooking (as long as it was cilantro free!). But frankly, that’s how Ina was with most people. She took a genuine interest in them and always looked for the good.
Ina’s greatest treasure, her son Ayden, was born in April of 1999. Ina was a dedicated mother and a stellar example to Ayden. Ina was an avid reader and instilled in Ayden a love for books and learning. As a teacher, Ina inspired students in elementary, middle and high school and in special education. She loved her students fiercely and wanted to empower them to succeed in life. Most recently Ina taught at Holbrook High School where she loved, mentored and advocated for her seniors.
Ina was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. The adoration was mutual. Ina has an extremely generous nature. She loved to shower the kids with love and presents! Ina was selfish in nothing but her baby cuddling time! She loved babies and would ask to hold them every chance she got!
Ina served faithfully in all of her church callings, ranging from the stake relief society presidency to laundry in the temple. She loves her Savior, Jesus Christ and always lived valiantly in her testimony of His Gospel. Ina is a beloved friend to so many. She cares so genuinely about her friends and they know how much she loves them.
Ina is survived by her parents, Clay and Cookie Overson, her son, Ayden (Miley) Overson, her brother, Brent (Tobie) Overson, and her sisters, Tawnya (Gerald) Wood and Brandi Oveson.
