Evelyn Greer Whiting, 95, peacefully passed away, Thursday, September 28, 2017 in St. George, Utah. Evelyn was born May 27, 1922 to Thomas Lacy Greer and Nellie Martha Thomas in St. Johns. She married Fernard Carvel Whiting on September 20, 1944. Evelyn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime as a member of the church, she served in several different callings such as: Primary teacher, Ward Relief Society President and Stake Relief Society President. Evelyn loved spending time outdoors in the mountains, crocheting and baking. She loved music and dancing. She leaves behind a legacy of service, and was loved by all who knew her. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five siblings and three children, her son, Carvel, her daughters, Bobbie Jean Malanca and Korliss Bates and her two granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn and Katie Bates Lee. She is survived by her brother, Garth (May) Greer, sisters, Elaine Short, and Betty Jo Eagar, sons-in-law, Ron Bates and Ken Malanca, grandchildren, Sheryl (Chris) Romero, John Malanca, Rachel Bates, Karen Malanca, Jimi Lynn (Jeff) Waters and Kristy Malanca, ten great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the loving care given to Evelyn by the staff, nurses and CNA's at Seasons Health and Rehab, Encompass Home Health and Hospice and Dr. Grace Paradela in St. George, Utah. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Stake Center, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the funeral services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
