Ernest Eugene “Gene” Brady of Casa Grande passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 in a place he loved dearly; the White Mountains of Arizona. Gene was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma to James Franklin and Flossie Marie Cox Brady.
The Brady Family moved to Arizona in the 40’s and began cotton farming. Gene farmed alongside his dad and his brother James on the Brady Farm. James and Gene worked and lived alongside each other their whole lives. James Brady passed away four days after his brother. They are now side-by-side in heaven.
In addition to farming, Gene was also a musician. He had a strong love for music and was a songwriter for the Caravans; who released a country western album in the early 70’s. He also owned the Trekell Road Inn where his band would often perform. Gene also proudly served in the National Guard.
Above all else, Gene was a family man. He dearly loved his children: Twana, Las Vegas, Nevada; Tyrone (Stacy) Brady, Gilbert; Adam Hazlehurst, Gina Brady, Tanya Hazlehurst, Wade Schuler and Matthew Brady, Casa Grande.
Papa Gene was adored by his grandchildren: Calli, Briana, Jordan, Justin, AJ, Ian and Teagan, along with his great-grandson, Isaiah. They, along with his beloved wife of 35 years, Marietta Brady, will forever miss his sense of humor, infectious smile and gift of story-telling. He had quite the stories to share!
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Flossie Brady, sister, Carolyn Thornton, brother, Bob Brady and nephew, Bobby Brady. His older brother James Brady died shortly after him in Casa Grande.
Both Gene and James are survived by their younger sister, Sandra Hooper, Casa Grande, whom holds a special place in both their hearts. The family is grateful that Gene passed where his spirit felt free; amongst the forest and the fresh air of the mountains. He was the rock of our family and will be forever missed.
A memorial for Gene and celebration of life for both Brady brothers will be held at the Brady Farm, 20640 W. Clayton Rd, Casa Grande, 85193 on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 12 noon.
