Emma Parfinovics, 96, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2018 at her daughter’s home in Nutrioso. She was born March 6, 1922 in Snepele, Latvia, the daughter of Andreja Kalnins and Elisabeth Braunfelds Kalnins.
Emma had an adventurous life. She fled Latvia at a young age during WWII and made her way to Czechoslovakia then Germany. There she met and married Stan while both were in a displaced persons camp. They both then ventured to Belgium, then Canada and finally moved to Mesa in 1965. She was a homemaker all her married life, loved flower gardening and knit beautiful mittens and even gloves with intricate Scandinavian designs.
Emma is survived by her daughters, Elsa (Nathan) Castillo, Nutrioso; Mare (Terry) Becker, Mesa; Janis Parfinovics, Gladewater, Texas; grandson, Shane Becker and great grandchildren, Gage Gullick, Kameron Knight and Taylor Becker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan Parfinovics and granddaughter, Danielle Becker-Knight.
Emma’s ashes will be laid to rest with her husband in Tempe at a later date.
