Elizabeth Froiland Baca, 69, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2017 in Tucson. She was born January 22, 1948 in San Diego, California, the daughter of Lloyd Henry Froiland and Ruth Jeanne Ransom Froiland. Liz loved the wilderness of the White Mountains. Before moving here in the early 1980’s she studied in Germany and lived and taught in Carmel, California, Tiawan and Ramona, California, where she spent her childhood. She then taught in Round Valley. Liz graduated from Ramona High School in 1966. She then attended LaVerne University in California. She spent a year as an undergraduate at the University of Marburg in Germany. After graduating from LaVerne in 1970 she went on to study at the Monterey Institute of Language. Liz is survived by her husband of 27 years, Johnny Baca, Springerville; stepchildren, Leslie Baca, Tucson; John Jason Baca, Eagar; brothers, John Froiland, Burnsville, North Carolina and Tom Froiland, Silver City, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the Community Presbyterian Church, Springerville.
