Elena "Ellen" / "Lena" Philipa Chavez Williams, 76, left this world peacefully, Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in Show Low, Arizona. She was born February 5, 1948 in St. Johns, Arizona, the daughter of Edwardo Lucero Chavez and Ana Maria Ballejos.
Ellen knew no strangers and loved everyone she met. She also loved spending time at the local park, doing crossword puzzles, reading and watching the activities going on. She was a mother, sister, aunt and mamo.
Lena is the beloved mother of Galen Williams, Francisco Williams and Roger Williams. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Austin, Skylar, Destiny Williams and Maddie White, sisters, Frances “Pancha” (Frank) Duerst, and Lillian (Greg) Chavez, 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 7 great nephews and 5 great nieces and one great-great niece, plus a host of relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Eddie and Mary Chavez, brother, Eddie “Vardo” Chavez, son, Thomas Williams and great nephew, Zavion Navarro.
A viewing will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. also at the church, with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
