Dorothy Anaya Orona, 83, passed away Monday, August 14, 2017 in Springerville. She was born September 27, 1933 in Juan Tomas, New Mexico, the daughter of Julian C. Anaya and Rosa Torrez Anaya. Dorothy was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. She took pride in her family and took in many with compassion, unselfishness, generosity and selflessness. She had a love for the outdoors including camping, fishing and gardening. Dorothy was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith and spirituality. She prayed Rosary daily; loved cooking and canning and sewing and crocheting. Her kids and grandkids feel she was the best cook on earth. Dorothy is survived by her sons, Herbert Orona, William (JoAnn) Orona, daughters, Barbara (Manuel) Gutierrez, Therese (Tobi) Baca, Berlinda (Rodney) Johnson, Rosemarie (Terry) Linville, Agnes (Eddie) Harris, 32 grandchildren, 64 great grandchildren and many loving brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emilio Orona, grandson, Manuelito Gutierrez, granddaughter, Barbara Johnson and great grandsons, Micah Walker and James Carter. A viewing will be held Friday, August 18, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. followed by Rosary at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Springerville, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at the Springerville Cemetery.
