Barbara Davis of St. Johns, Arizona, age 74, died Sunday, July 28, 2024 after a long struggle with COPD. She was born September 9, 1949 in Bakersfield, California, the eldest daughter of H. L. Holsomback and Melba Dunkin but grew up at Fish Sawmill 18 miles north of Flagstaff and in east Flagstaff.

Barbara was a 1967 graduate of Flagstaff High School. She enrolled in Northern Arizona University’s nursing program. She held several jobs over the years and successful careers. She was a telephone operator for Mountain Bell, an office worker at Flagstaff Hospital, office manager for Coconino Legal Aid and school secretary at Discovery Academy and Renaissance Academy of St. Johns.

Her greatest accomplishment was raising two children, Christina Janeway and Robert Davis.

Barbara was a Christian, devoted to the gospel of Jesus and a life-long Southern Baptist. 

She is survived by three siblings, Peggy Harbottle, Loretta Snider and Dale Holsomback, her children, three grandchildren and her children’s father, Robert Lucas, her husband of 49 years.

Her parents and her older brother, Charles preceded her in death.

Barbara was a good person and always the family helper. Now she has gone to be with family once again.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
