Alfredo Talamantes

July 28, 1936 — February 6, 2021

Alfredo Talamantes, 84, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 at home in Reserve. He was born July 28, 1936 in Childress, Texas, the son of Joseph and Mary Talamantes.

Alfredo enlisted twice with the United States Air Force and served our beautiful country. He was patriotic, always respecting all laws and the US flag on all retreats or service times. He honorably retired from the United States Air Force on August 31, 1975. Later he became a zone manager at Circle K, retiring after 15 years. He received many bonuses and plaques while serving in this position.

Alfredo enjoyed his retirement and dabbled in many activities, such as hunting, fishing, camping, riding 4 wheelers, side by sides and hiking. He even went on to explore jobs of curiosity such as Forest Ranger. Being satisfied with those hobbies, he then enjoyed his daughter and son-in-law’s ranch; petting and brushing horses.

Alfredo loved all of his children and grandchildren. He loved his dogs and enjoyed all animals to the fullest extent. He was an extremely devoted husband; never was there a time he did not put his wife before him and she was his world. He had so much love for his family and friends. He was an absolute perfectionist in all he would do; even for family and friends. He never liked a job half done and we have witnessed tearing down and rebuilding until it was the way he wanted. He wouldn’t allow much fussing over him if he was sick or hurt. He would hide his pain well! He never showed weakness. With this said, he has earned his final wings. We sat silent as he soared to the beyond and sung “Fly High, Tally-ho!”

Alfredo is survived by his wife, Karen R. Talamantes, Reserve; sons, Walter J. Baker, Hobbs, New Mexico; Allen J. Talamantes, North Carolina; daughter, Linnie N. Baker Kerr, Animas, New Mexico, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Manuel Talamantes.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, cards and remembrances may be sent to Karen Talamantes, PO Box 276, Reserve, NM 87830. Physical address: #5 Upcher, Reserve, NM 87830.
