Lucy B. Silva

Lucy B. Silva, 99, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2017 in Phoenix. She was born May 31, 1917 in Springerville, the daughter of Joe and Lucy Bazan Baca. Upon completing high school at Round Valley High School she married Evaristo Silva, Jr. They were married for seventy-nine years!! Evaristo and Lucy established the first commercial laundry in Springerville. Lucy was active with the Springerville Senior Center, White Mountain Hospital Auxillary, PTA and many St. Peters Catholic Church activities. Her favorite things were traveling and activities with her children and their families. Lucy is survived by her sons, Ramon (Gladys) Silva, Tucson; David (Geri) Silva, Springerville; Dennis (Claudia) Silva, Phoenix; daughter, Sister of Notre Dame, Carmen Silva, Phoenix; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 13 great great-grandchildren. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister, Inez Baca Gonzales; son, Robert Silva; and grandson, Ramon Joseph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix, Arizona Alzheimer’s Association or to a charity of your choice. Rosary will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Springerville, with a Funeral Mass following at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at the Springerville City Cemetery.
