Virginia L. Crandall, 94, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016 in St. Johns. She was born February 7, 1922 in Grants Pass, Oregon, the daughter of William Thomas Miller and Edith Lea Austin. Virginia was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon. She attended Southern Oregon State College. She worked for Pacific Power & Light Company and the county clerk’s office. In 1952 she married Frank V. Crandall. They raised three daughters. After moving to Coos Bay, Oregon in 1970, she worked as secretary for the North Bend Fire Department until she retired. In 1982, Frank and Virginia moved to Indonesia for 5 years. They returned to Coos Bay and continued their life-long love of hunting, fishing and camping. Virginia’s other hobbies included reading, making latch-hook wall hangings and traveling, especially to Alaska to fish, view wildlife and visit family. In 2000, Virginia and Frank moved to Eagar to be closer to family. Virginia is survived by her daughters, Nancy M. Wright, Alpine; Virginia Lea (David Schulmeister) Crandall, Kailua, Hawaii; Patricia (Steve) Waggoner, Ninilchik, Alaska, 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in-law, Floyd L. Wright.
