Dewey Huburt "Bert" Farr, 94, died Friday, October 7, 2016 in St. Johns peacefully, with his family by his side. He was born August 15, 1922 in St. Johns the second child of Dewey and Esther Brown Farr.
Bert was a successful businessman and built his Farr Insurance business into one of most successful in the southwest. He loved his community and took his civic duty seriously. He served on the hospital board, chamber of commerce, school board, Kiwanis Club and the Apache County Fair and racing commission. He was very patriotic and loved his country. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Force. He had so many stories and life experiences. He was the first drafted married man with a child from St. Johns. He loved gardening and yard work and always had an immaculate yard.
Bert married his sweetheart, Virgene Jarvis November 2, 1940. Together they had five children: Charles Huburt, Donald Emmet, Mary Beth (Steve) Martin, Annette (Ron) Holt, and Jeanne Kay (Lacy) Greer.
He is survived by his 34 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is dearly beloved by his family. He is survived by his children, Donald, Mary Beth, Annette and Jeanne, sister, Esther Davis, brothers, Robert, and Gordon.
He was preceded in death by his eternal companion, Virgene, son, Charles Huburt, three sisters, Ramona, Letty Lou, Helen, and brother, David, two sons-in-law, Scott Ellsworth and Jim Buchanan, grandson, Benjamin Farr and great-great-grandson, Emmett.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October, 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Downtown Chapel, with visitation from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
