Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez, Sr.

Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez, Sr. 81, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Phoenix. He was born August 2, 1935 in St. Johns, the son of Frank and Pauline Nuanez. Alfonso was a sanitation officer for the city of Phoenix, retiring in 1977. Our daddy was a great storyteller, loved music, fishing, camping, hunting and cowboy movies. Our daddy also loved to dance and cook. Most of all he loved his family, oh, and John Wayne. Alfonso is survived by his wife, Elvira M. Nuanez, sons, Patricio Ramirez, Joey Ramirez, Alfonso Wilfred Nuanez, Jr., daughters, Evalinda Nuanez, Crucita Nuanez, Pauline Nuanez, Rachel Nuanez, Jennifer Nuanez, brother, Raphael Nuanez, 39 grandchildren, 67 great grandchildren and 8 great, great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Cruz N. Chavez, Della N. Baca, Ruth N. Perez, Elenor Nuanez, brothers, Demetrio Nuanez, Orlando Nuanez, daughter, Elvira Ramirez and 5 grandchildren. A viewing will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at The St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns with Rosary following at 3:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass following at 4:00 p.m. Interment will follow the funeral mass at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
