Lupe Tafoya, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2016 in St. Johns. He was born December 12, 1935 in St. Johns, the son of Romolo C. and Maria De Atocha M. Pena Tafoya. Lupe served his country in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne during the Korean War. He was a lifelong resident of St. Johns and was a loving husband, father and grandpa. Lupe was a friend to all and a proud United States Veteran. He was survived by his wife, Patricia Tafoya, sons, Michael Tafoya, St. Johns; Rocky (Laureen) Tafoya, Tucson; Andrew (Ladonna) Tafoya, Queen Creek; brothers, Joe Tafoya, Phoenix; Ralph Tafoya, Phoenix; Edmundo Tafoya, St. Johns; Moises Tafoya, St. Johns; sister, Helen Pineda, Phoenix; grandchildren, Erik Tafoya, Reserve, New Mexico; Tiana (Colton) Hopwood, Queen Creek; A. J. Tafoya, Queen Creek and Reese Tafoya, Queen Creek. Lupe was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Dulce Tafoya and Lucille Baca and brother, Herman Tafoya. Rosary will be held Friday, July 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, St. Johns. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Interment will follow the funeral mass at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
