James Delbert Finch, Sr., 85, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 in Eagar. He was born April 6, 1931 in Bloomfield, New Mexico, the son of William Clyde, Sr. and Pearl Norton Finch.
Jim was a building contractor. He was not large in stature but was a giant among men for his honesty, integrity and kindness. In multiple ways he served his community and church, all of his 85 years; fighting for things he believed in and against things that were wrong. His favorite colors were green grass and fat cows. He loved to hunt, fish, camp, ride horses and go for rides with his wife and family in the outdoors; raise gardens, pastures and cows. He greatly loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a complete man, but was not whole without his wife Glenda. There is no one big enough to fill his size 7 shoes.
Jim is survived by his wife, Glenda Finch, Eagar; sons, James Delbert Finch, Jr., Eagar; Michael Lloyd Finch, Sr., Eagar; Gary Allen Finch, Eagar; daughters, Tammy Finch, Mesa; Becky Finch-Bacon, Denver, Colorado; brothers, Vurrell Finch, Tommy Finch, Stanley Finch, Arthur Finch, Glenn Finch, sisters, Orpha Mae Bigelow, Clydene Rammelsberg, Ellen Fay Taylor, Bertha Jean Johnson, 23 grandchildren and 56 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William Clyde Finch, Jr., Rulon C. Finch, Daniel Cliff Finch and sister, Betty Josephine MacDonald.
A Viewing will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, Eagar. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Eagar Stake Center. Interment will follow the funeral services at the Eagar Cemetery.
